The Doneks pigeons are a breed of fancy pigeons developed over many years of selective breeding. The name Donek is of Turkish origin and means, falling down from the sky. The Donek, along with other varieties of domesticated pigeons, are all descendants from the Rock Pigeon. The breed is known for its aerial acrobatics and as such is more of a performance breed rather than a purely fancy variety. Their aerial spiraling return when called back to the loft makes a spectacular sight. Doneks pigeons has become so popular that most of the guys that have been supplying o thers with birds tell me they just never have enough. This is attributed to the fact that donek pigeon is one of the top performers in the pigeon world. And, be-cause this pigeon is so dern smart!! He is a pleasure to have around. They rush towards the ground from practically right overhead. They drop like a rock and spin like a fighter plane in a tail-spin and then when close to the ground they pull out at the last minute!
